Having been busy all morning and early afternoon at the PIAA, I didn’t get a chance to check the state papers until a few minutes ago. And I was floored and saddened by the lead story: Former Northampton and Pottsville football coach Terry “Teko” Johnson was found dead in an Atlantic City hotel room on Wednesday morning. He was 41.

The Morning Call story is here.

I didn’t know Teko personally, but he seemed likeable enough, according to my print colleagues who worked with him. He had recently returned to his native Utah to coach.

Just a shame.

Our thoughts go out to Teko’s family.
