If there’s one thing I’m totally geeky about, it’s records, specifically PIAA championship records. I’m not sure it’s the life my parents envisioned for me, but they can’t complain too much. They got three granddaughters out of the deal.

Here are the updated PIAA Football Championship Playoff Records, which you can use as a soothing balm after you’re done flipping out over the all-state football teams.

For your viewing convenience, records established or tied this past season appear in red. All-time records appear in blue bold italics.

  1. Rod,
Great great stuff! Wow….One revision..1991 Hickory lost to Forest Hills in the PIAA playoffs. So Hickory would have 3 appearances not 2.

  2. Rod,

I didn’t see any records that were broken by the PIAA first game from this year which featured Garnett Valley vs. Central Bucks South. I’m almost certain there had to be at least one record breaking performance in that game — CB South’s Dan Brown scored 6 TD’s in that game.

  3. My bad. That game was a secord rounder. Sorry.

  4. ‘Tis OK, Kevin. PIAA playoff records include only the games played between interdistrict opponents. District records are a different category, in part because the district tournaments are the qualifiers for the PIAA tournament and in part because if district tournaments were considered part of the actual state playoffs, there would be so many rounds and so many layers that it would be a huge pain to keep track of.

In the case of Garnet Valley and CB South, that a District 1 game, not a PIAA game. I guess I’ll have to start compiling the D1 playoff records, eh?
