I wrote the check to the PIAA a few hours ago. What happens to it from here is not my concern. All I know is that I’ll be bringing you the semifinals live from Giant Center. The chat below will go online at 7:30 p.m.

As I’ve said all week, I’ll be concentrating on Central Dauphin vs. Canon-McMillan, but with the great efforts by Mechanicsburg and Boiling Springs, I’ll obviously provide some updates on the Mechanicsburg-McDowell and Boiling Springs-Bedford matches. Heck of a night in store.

CD will bring its state-record streak of 95 consecutive victories, a streak that began in 2008 and has carried through four straight PIAA championships and five District 3-AAA championships. You can see a match-by-match list of that streak here.

Canon-McMillan lost its last two matches at the 2011 PIAA Team Championships, a 36-20 loss to CD in the semifinals and a 33-19 loss to Nazareth in the consolation semifinals. They haven’t been challenged in 24 matches this year; the Big Macs closest match was a 44-22 win over McDonogh, Md., at the Virginia Duals in early January.

The chat begins below. Join the fun.

  1. Maybe I’m a little off base here, but many times those of us in one part
Of the state don’t pay attention to transfers and such taking place far away from us.
Ironically it was one of these things that may have cost CD a shot at another
State Title and continuation of “the streak”. Just an observation.
Obviously its been done in D-11 for ages. Doesn’t make it right.
Bethlehem Catholic should win AA every year at the rate they are bringing
In kids don’t you think? I know they are 2 different situation apples and oranges
But both still fruit…. When will PIAA change how they treat these open enrollment
or non boundry schools ? Change isn’t something they like much up there….
