Joe,

I don't have PIAA brackets past 1998 ... yet. I have some research sessions at the State Library in Harrisburg scheduled in the upcoming weeks, and my priority is basketball. Hopefully, I'll have brackets, including the ones you're seeking, by the end of the summer.

Wish I could be of more help.

Do you have a list of AAA Boy's Team T&F Champions ? The PIAA website is under

construction. If possible, from the year team champions were first recognized until

2010.

Dear Rod,

Are you aware of any websites that keep archives of PIAA wrestling championships dating back to the 60's or better yet before?

Your website was recommended to me by the PIAA offices and I must say I've enjoyed perusing.

Thanks and keep up the good work.

Mr. Kay, thanks for writing.

According to my records, Leon Chatman (it was spelled that way in my primary source and I found a Leon Chatman who graduated from Clairton in the mid-1960s, but I will happily correct the spelling if it is incorrect) won the PIAA Class A pole vault with a jump of 13-4. That is listed here: http://www.rodfrisco.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/PIAA-BOYS-TRACK-REX-FIELD.pdf

However, I searched diligently to find a victory by Ray Arrington in the mile as you suggested, but was unable to confirm that. Again, my archives indicate that Arrington was second in the 1965 A mile to Steve Gentry of State College, whose listed time was 4:12.4.

However, those same records indicate that Ray, who went on to an outstanding career at the University of Wisconsin, did win the 1965 Class A 880 in a time of 1:54.1. That was the second-fastest winning 880 time in PIAA history to that point. That is listed here: http://www.rodfrisco.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/PIAA-BOYS-TRACK-REX-LINEAR.pdf

I have no other documentation confirming or refuting those results at this point. As I noted, these records are unofficial and subject to revision.

Thanks for writing.

Do you have anything on Leon Chapmon or Ray Arrington. Both graduated from Clairton High School, Clairton, Pennsylvania in 1964. They established themselves at the 1964 PIAA State Championship. Leon polevaulted 13'4" and Ray ran the mile in that State Championship in 4 minutes 11 seconds. Does your archives reach back that far?
