   I am glad to see that you have continued to cover HS Football (sports). I was a big fan of yours when you were at the Patriot and glad you have started this site. I’m an editors son…so I always appreciate fair jounalism, which you have always provided. Keep up the good work!

   The comment about half of Sto Rox football team will not play due to new grading policy has been lifted, the athletes and others will have two weeks to get their grades up to snuff. Sto-Rox will be at full strength this coming weekend. Of course Rod Frisco probably already knows this but no time to update the comment section.

   Actually, I didn’t know a thing about the reprieve. I spent all day – and I mean all day – updating the District 3 power ratings in field hockey and volleyball. Not once did I head out to the Internet for anything else until about 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

   But I know now.

   Dear Rod, I’m gonna make one more pitch for Lewisburg. There is no way that South Fayette, much less Aliquippa, can be ranked ahead of the Dragons. Did I see every game? NO. Do I do what you do for a living? NO. What I did see is that South Fayette barely beat the Quips. West Catholic had a close one with the Green Dragons. The Burrs beat the heck out of the Lions. Come on man. So some respect.

   Mike, Lewisburg has acquitted itself defensively. About that, there can be no question. On the other hand, Lewisburg barely moved a half of a field against West Catholic. Should that be discarded?

   I will rank Lewisburg, as well as all of the teams in the all of the top tens, accordingly, taking into account various factors. Lewisburg will clearly be ranked very high; it has earned it.

   But if there’s one thing that genuinely annoys me, it is people clamoring for respect. Let me state this with absolute clarity: I respect every athlete who risks injury and ego to participate in high school sports. All of them, from the champion to the 0-17 wrestler. In fact, I have even more respect for the 0-17 wrestler because he is persevering when things are tough, not easy.

   My rankings are a matter of opinion, never a matter of respect because, as stated, I respect all athletes, unless that athlete has done something to seriously discredit himself.

   You can disagree completely with my opinion. But don’t ever challenge my respect. That card has been played way too many times in the wrong way.

   Thanks for responding. All I can say is South Fayette has a better QB than Lewisburg. But the Lions only had 133 total yards to the dragons 72. Playing games on paper sucks. I am bias. Good luck in your opinion. No matter what, someone will bitch.
