Here are the final approved qualifiers and brackets for field hockey for the 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 school years; they were adopted at the PIAA Board of Directors’ meeting in May.

The “qualifiers” files show the math the PIAA uses to determine the number of qualifiers from each district to the PIAA championship in that sport; the process is known as proportional representation. The brackets show the pairings for PIAA team and individual championships in each sport where applicable.

Lower Dauphin will try to repeat its 2009 PIAA Class AAA championship

No live coverage today unless I make last-second decision to head down to Ephrata for Lower Dauphin vs. Owen J. Roberts, but that’s 50-50 at best. Kids’ birthday. What can I say?

However, I will be blogging all four PIAA baseball championship games Friday from Altoona’s Blair County Ballpark. Details will be posted in mid-week.

As such, I’m seeking reports from the PIAA softball championship game Friday from Shippensburg University’s Robb Field. Anyone who wants to dip their toe into the famously warm pool can do by contacting me at
